THE TABLE

Published limits, on the same date

Each row is what the provider states on its own plan page, read on the date below. Limits change; the link in each row is the place to re-check before you decide. Where a page does not state something, the cell says so rather than guessing.

HOW TO READ IT

Where the small plan wins, and where it does not

On raw storage the Hostna free plan is the smallest in the table, and the table says so. What it has that the larger free plans in the list do not, taken together: a mailbox, a certificate for your own domain, PHP 8.5 with the version selectable, the same panel the paid plans use, and a server in Germany operated by a company registered in Germany. If you need 5 GB for free, pick the plan with 5 GB. If you need a small site with email that you can move up without moving out, this one is built for that.

Two things a table cannot show. First, "unlimited bandwidth" on a free plan always sits on top of a fair-use rule or a daily counter; read that rule before relying on the word. Second, static hosts such as GitHub Pages are excellent for HTML, CSS and JavaScript sites and are listed here for that reason — they run no PHP and no database, so a contact form, a login or WordPress is not possible there.

Questions about Free Hosting Compared

Why is your plan smaller than some others in the table?

Because the plan is sized to be sustainable without ads and without a card: one small site per person, on the same hardware as paying customers. The larger free plans fund themselves differently — a premium upsell, a partner network, or limits that live in the fair-use text rather than in the headline number.

Are the competitor figures verified?

They are the figures the providers publish on their own plan pages, read on 14 September 2026 and linked in the table. We do not test other providers' accounts. If a figure has changed, the linked page is right and this table is out of date — tell us and we will correct it.

Which free host is best for a static HTML site?

If the site is pure HTML, CSS and JavaScript and you already use Git, GitHub Pages or a similar static host is hard to beat. The moment you need PHP, a database, a contact form that sends mail, or WordPress, you need a plan like the ones in the rest of the table.

Does "no ads" mean the same thing everywhere?

Not always. Some plans put no advertising on your pages but add a branded footer link or a bar. Hostna adds nothing to your pages at all.
