Who is the company?KAUFEX, a sole proprietorship registered in Bad Salzuflen, Germany, with a German VAT ID. Name, address and telephone are in the legal notice.
Which law applies?German law and the GDPR. The privacy policy and the data-processing agreement are published; the agreement can be accepted from the account.
Sub-processors?Listed in the data-processing agreement. Hosting itself involves no transfer outside the EU.
Certificates?Let's Encrypt, for the hosted.hostna.com name and for your own domain.
AVAILABILITY

Open to every EU and EEA country, the UK and Switzerland

EU Regulation 2018/302 forbids refusing web hosting to a customer because of where in the Union they live. We built that into the order system rather than into a policy document.

The free plan is available to anyone in the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, without exception and without a different price. Outside that area the plan is offered in most countries but not all; the order flow tells you before you finish, and the paid plans may still be available where the free one is not.

Latency follows geography: from anywhere in Europe the server is a short hop, and pages of an ordinary site arrive in a few hundred milliseconds. Visitors in the Americas and Asia get the same site with the usual intercontinental delay; if most of your visitors are there, a CDN in front of the site helps more than a different plan.

  1. To order it you need an account with a confirmed email address, a telephone number and a full postal address. One free plan per person and per household; a second one under another email is closed when found (Terms, § 12).
  2. Activation is by a person. Every free account is switched on by a person, not a script. You get an email when it is live.

Questions about Free Hosting in Europe

Is the free plan GDPR-compliant?

The hosting is: data is stored in Germany by a German-registered company under a published privacy policy and a data-processing agreement you can accept in the account. Whether your SITE is compliant depends on what you put on it — a privacy notice, a lawful contact form, a cookie banner only if you use cookies that need one.

Can I get a data-processing agreement (Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag) for a free plan?

Yes. The same agreement applies to every account, free or paid, and can be accepted from the client area.

Is my data ever transferred outside the EU?

Not by the hosting. Files, database and mail stay on the server in Germany. Third-party services you embed in your own site (fonts, analytics, video) are your choice and your responsibility.

Do you charge VAT?

No. Hostna is a small business under § 19 (1) UStG, so no VAT is added to any price for anyone, in any country. €2.80 is what you pay.

Is the free plan available in my country?

Everywhere in the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, always. In most other countries too, with some exceptions the order flow shows you before you finish.
